I first had an inkling that the big party last Friday night to celebrate 30+ years of Silicon Alley might not unfold exactly as planned while watching party organizers’ communications grow increasingly dire. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to this celebration,” read an email sent the day before the party. “We cannot accept walk-ins or additional +1s as we’re operating a 400-person waitlist, thanks for understanding.”
