WORK • Friday Routine

Novelty sought

Neighborhood you live in: Boerum Hill

It’s Friday afternoon, how are you rolling into the weekend?
Friday I like to work from home and try to wrap up everything I didn’t get to finish throughout the week. I may even have time to cook dinner, take my dogs for a walk, and confirm my weekend plans. I love an open weekend where I can focus on my workouts, self-care appointments, and relax. There’s no better feeling than getting organized and then going into the weekend feeling relaxed and ready to take on the next week without worrying about things lingering from the prior week.

Any restaurant plans?
I’m going to Sawa, a Lebanese spot in Park Slope. It’s so delicious, and the vibes are on point. Perfect for dinner with a friend or partner, and you can share the dishes easily. It’s my go-to date night spot.

How about a little leisure or culture?
I recently went to a Jensen McRae concert with some of the Dagne girlies at Irving Plaza to see Holden perform before our debut partnership! I’m always doing things like this, love a fun work moment. My work-life and personal life really all bleeds into one so it’s extra fun to have fun while hanging with my work buds. This weekend, I’m going to WWE Wrestling with some of my Brooklyn friends at Barclays Center. I’m not really a wrestling fan, but I love trying new things so I’m going. You can definitely find me in-season at Barclays watching women’s and men’s basketball. GO LIBERTY + NETS!

Any weekend getaways?
Recently I went to Asheville, NC, which is only an hour-and-a-half flight from NYC, and it was gorgeous. I stayed in a cabin at Barkwells, a dog-friendly resort in the countryside outside of the city, and it was so relaxing and helped me recharge before our peak season. For dining, I recommend Botiwalla by Chai Pani, and for coffee, PennyCup. We also got to see some amazing waterfalls and take some killer hikes, like Slick Rock Falls.

What was your last great vacation?
Steamboat Springs, CO. This is the town I grew up in and my family has since moved away, but I’m a mountain girl at heart and still make a trip every year to enjoy what the town has to offer. There are great hikes (Spring Creek Trail Head, Hahns Peak Trailhead), purest sunshine (they get an average of 242 days a year!), good skiing, amazing restaurants (Taco Cabo, Beard & Braid, Mountain Tap Brewery, Blue Sage Pizza), and I always tube the river and go to the rodeo!

Another: Grayson Highlands, VA. I wanted to section hike the Appalachian Trail and chose the Grayson Highlands near Roanoke, VA. The hike was incredible, the views were like nothing I’ve ever seen before — straight out of a Lord of the Rings movie! The hike was tough but the trail was super well maintained and I really pushed my limits with a long weekend hiking 9+ miles a day.

What’s a recent big-ticket purchase you love?
The new Dyson Air Wrap Co-anda 2x. It’s incredible. They added new barrels and improved the air technology plus the buttons are easier to use, so it gives an even better blowout than the last version. Obsessed with tools that make my life easier, and this one is at the top of my list.

What product or service do you always recommend?
I just got a personal trainer, Juliet Roufchaie, and my life has completely changed. I always told myself “I can’t do that, it’s too expensive!” and then I realized that I was just really limiting myself by thinking I didn’t deserve one or can’t afford one. I just moved my budget around to make it work, and I already feel so much better because my workouts are scheduled and I have an accountability partner to help me stay fit.

BARS • First Round

Omakase, sipped

The Skinny: Bar maestro Greg Boehm of Cocktail Kingdom Hospitality (Superbueno, Katana Kitten) teams up with Tokyo’s Bar Libre (No. 49 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars) on Cocktail Omakase, a dual-concept bar on the Lower East Side. The format: A 12-seat omakase-style cocktail counter up front offers a tasting menu structure typically reserved for sushi, while a separate seven-seat walk-in bar mixes full-sized drinks. It opened at the end of last month.
