It’s Tuesday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
My workplace scene and my home life scene blur lines in many ways. I’ve been working from home since I started my interior design studio over 10 years ago. I have three kids that I need to get out the door to school every morning by 745a before I can sit at my desk with my double shot of espresso. I learned early on that even when you don’t have to commute to work, you should always get dressed like you’re going into the office. It helps me feel like my professional day is starting.
I recently took my decade of experience in the interior design world, where I specialized in children’s spaces, and translated that to the online retail world. Over the past nine months, a small team and I have been building a multi-brand retail website called Little Room Supply for children’s interior design items, from brands I have worked with over the years and some new ones.
What’s on the agenda for this week?
Today, we’re planning the finishing touches for our launch party, choosing the right balloon colors to match my logo, making sure we have a good coffee bar for guests, and checking off RSVPs. Then, I’ll take a little break to exercise at Tracy Anderson. Then, I’m back to my desk to review copy for an email blast, onboard a new vendor, upload product images to the site, and then I’m back out to pick up my kids from school on the Upper West Side.
Any restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
Tonight, I won’t have time to make dinner, so I’ll probably take my kids to our favorite neighborhood sushi spot, Poke. This weekend we have plans with friends for dinner at Café Commerce, which I’ve been dying to try.
How about a little leisure or culture this week?
Weekends are filled with sports games for the kids, running from Basketball City and back to the Upper East Side. I did carve out some alone time to get a facial at the new Georgia Louise Beauty Longevity Atelier UES location, and got to hang with my girlfriends to see Chess on Broadway.
What’s a recent big-ticket purchase you love?
KHAITE Colt snake-effect leather ankle boots, the new loves of my life.
What NYC store or service do you love to recommend?
Obsessed with the new Dries Van Noten store on Mercer, when I’m not shopping online. You’ll also most likely find me at Butterfield buying delicious cookies and snacks for my kids. My favorite service that I found as a mom hack is Dorian’s Fish Market on York Avenue. If you call in the morning, they’ll cook and prepare fish any way you like, and have it delivered hot and in time for family dinner.
