Having moved uptown, I’ve nearly completed decorating my first “adult apartment.” As a single man in his late 20s, I’m well aware this is likely the only time I’ll have full autonomy over the design of my apartment, particularly the art that goes above my bed, a space I intentionally left open until something spoke to me.
In this pied-à-terre meets man cave, only a rock-and-roll print would do. From there the question became: Strokes? Beatles? Perhaps. Rolling Stones… Mick Jagger, definitely.
After consulting the likely sources (House of Spoils, Sonic Editions, and even the more niche Morrison Hotel Gallery in Soho), I decided to go right to the source for a print I love. I reached out directly to the artist, Peter Anderson, who shot that famous portrait of Mick Jagger coming out of the Le Beat Route Club in London in, let’s say, rare form (above).
Anderson gave me some awesome context around the shot and happened to have a large silver gelatin print in hand. Sometimes, it’s best to go straight to the well to drink. –Ryan McMahon
