SMOKE AND MIRRORS: Booking a table last week at the new restaurant and bar Double Knot, across the street from Oceana on 49th Street (despite a 6th Avenue address), I opted for “robata bar” on sheer whim. But when I arrived at the restaurant, the maitre’d escorted me instead to a two-top set into the wall on the main level, by the long sushi counter at the back of the restaurant — and right next to a big table of boisterous coworkers blowing off steam.
